FINAL FEATURE (also #26)

Good people of Thermopylae! This will be our last feature before the larp. We are now entering maximum crunch mode, and will have very little time left for answering questions or producing text so here’s our guide to not panicking: Breathe Remember that once you are larping, things will work out fine. Don’t worry if you feel stressed over not knowing things. Ask your fellow participants if you have any questions. Many questions have already been answered before, and the people on slack (or the myriad of non-monitored facebook-groups) can probably answer yours. If you have an *urgent* question, email…

FRIDAY FEATURE #25

Last or second to last Friday Feature is out! The larp is really close now… We have been updating the descriptions on what some of the specific groups will work with. There are still a few missing, but they are written and are just going through proofing and will be made available within the day. To read the updates, check out: Command: https://lotka-volterra.se/story/command Mission Control: https://lotka-volterra.se/story/miscon Internal Security: https://lotka-volterra.se/story/intsec Science: https://lotka-volterra.se/story/science Counselors: https://lotka-volterra.se/story/counselors I know it’s a lot to ask, but Command players would benefit from reading through all the descriptions of the groups to get a grip on what…

FRIDAY FEATURE #24

The plot thickens The plot system is now online, and is available once you log in. In it, you can formalize plots between you and other players – plot here meaning anything from a shared secret or an experience you’ve had with someone else, social circles and “common knowledge” up to dramatic intrigue, conspiracies or clues to storylines. We have also begun assigning some plots from the fiction team to players – not everyone has one at the moment – and will continue assigning more as we go along. Most won’t be big, cataclysmic plotlines but rather smaller, every day…

FRIDAY FEATURE #23

FRIDAY FEATURE #23

Currently we’re at the larp convention Prolog (we’ll be doing a meet-and-greet tomorrow), but we’ll try to cram some Lotka work into the schedule too. Meanwhile, here’s a friday feature! The cafeteria The rec-room at Thermopylae need YOU to work hard! As a much valued institution the recreation room has been run by volunteers since the start. It’s not a hard job, some light cleaning up, serving “coffee” (and getting fresh coffee from the mess) and making sure there are no fights over what cassette gets played in the boom box. If you want to join in on the fun,…

FRIDAY FEATURE #22

Relations! As some of you might have noticed the relationship editor is already live on the webpage. By logging in you should be able to edit and create new relationships. So get in there and make friends (or enemies)! Since this is hot code, if anything seems off talk to our main developer Andreas, he can be found on slack most of the time, but mind the time difference (he´s located in Melbourne) and don´t steal all his time. FRIDAY FEATURE #21

FRIDAY FEATURE #21

This is a rather lengthy feature, as we have lots of stuff that needs to be published, so get cosy. This weekend we will also go through the the features and add pertinent information to the webpage. But let’s start things off with a photo. Pictured is a jacket of the same kind you will be wearing (jacket pictured is a “medium”) worn in current fashion – jacket unbuttoned and sleeves rolled up, and Sebastian is wearing the MISCON cap. Needs more weathering and dirt, but you get the picture. Timeline, rotations and some numbers 2018, 2nd of April –…

FRIDAY FEATURE #20

How you read your character The characters are finally here and casting is complete. Phew. Here’s your handy guide to the character editor. First, this is what you’ll see after logging in: In the participant list and the gallery clicking on a player now shows you their public character sheet (it’s white and almost looks diegetic). Clicking on “My Character” takes you to the Character Editor. But, there are some things you need to know before you start editing your characters. Each character consists of a few different fields, and we will run them through real quick in this Friday…

FRIDAY FEATURE #19

FRIDAY FEATURE #19

Characters We know you’re all eagerly awaiting characters, and while they are currently finished and written, we have not yet assigned them to you. This is because we are running a bit late on the interaction side of the participant system, and we want to you have full access to the tools you are going to use to flesh your character out at the same time that you read your character for the first time. This means, sadly, that you will have to have wait a bit longer until your characters will be assigned. How long? Probably a couple of…

FRIDAY FEATURE #18

FRIDAY FEATURE #18

In today’s Friday Feature, you will find extensive information about life in Thermopylae – how it is run, how the daily routines work and how culture in the Outposts differs from that in Haven. This is a meaty longread so go get some surrogate coffee and a bowl of roasted grubs. But first, let’s talk about some of the true heroes of Haven: COUNSELORS AND TRAUMA Every single one of the people in Haven have suffered some serious psychological trauma. You lost almost everything; family, friends, your entire way of living, even the possibility of breathing clean air or feeling…

FRIDAY FEATURE #17

FRIDAY FEATURE #17

FRIDAY FEATURE #17 In today’s Friday Feature, you will find extensive information about life in Haven – culture, habits, conflicts and the daily motions that people go through. This is obviously useful, not only for how your characters look at life in Thermopylae compared to life in Haven but also for the video calls back home, for relationships back in the colony and to get a better idea of the culture of this little slice of humanity post-Nightfall. After the part about Life in Haven, you will also be able to read about how long people have been in Thermopylae…
